Biography: Ryota was nurtured in a loving, caring household with both parents and a brother. Their lives were modest, with his parents running a simple rice house, but their lives were joyful, as they took pleasure in the simple things.

That blissful life ended once robbers invaded their home. Ryota's mother and brother were killed, but the father emerged with a shattered heart. Since the brother was killed trying to hide Ryota, Dad blames Ryuichi's death on him. Emotionally dead, and never comforting Ryota, Dad dropped off his last son at his uncle's. Ryota loves Uncle Suzaku with every thread of his being, but senses great hatred from him-and feels incurably guilty over both deaths. So Dad and Uncle have a right to hate him.

His new life with Suzaku had him transfer to Gochisu High School, where his Persona adventure begins. At the beginning of his adventure, he meets Igor and Margaret, who tell him of "The Ones that Came Before". But that's just the beginning.

Ryota appears to be endlessly energetic, cheerful and optimistic. People are quickly attracted to his warm character, which leads to budding love stories with a few other students. He's a sweetheart that does everything in his power to make others happy, even if that someone is an acquaintance. Courageous and inspirational, he becomes a strong favorite with students and teachers alike.

Ryota is selfish-when it comes to little things, like the last slice of pizza. If he can't have the slice, or if someone chooses not to listen to him, it upsets him and he doesn't hesitate to show it.

Short-tempered, he hates it when someone shuts him down during an important situation. If someone chooses not to heed his advice during a mission/assignment, it upsets him-which makes him out to be an immature, whiny leader. As his adventure continues, he matures into a wiser, stronger leader.

Despite his bright exterior, Ryota shelters devastating guilt over his broken family. He's insecure about being a leader, believing he's no good for anything.

Persona: Kusanagi

A behemoth that wields the power of a fierce thunderstorm. Ultimate Form: Tengu. At one point, Ryota loses the ability to summon his Persona.

Fighting Style: Ryota's a swift, elegant swordsman that carries a family heirloom-a samurai sword. He can channel Kusanagi's lightning through the blade.

Relationships:

Yumi: Shy, sweet bluenette with a heart of gold. Awakens her Persona because of Ryota's friendship. Works in her family's bakery. Regularly bakes and brings pastries for her friends-but makes Ryota's special.

Aki: Ryota's best friend. Ryo saves him from bullies on his first day of school. Aki and Ryota become a well known duo, from that point on. Aki eventually shares his darkest secret with him, and is moved to sobs when Ryo doesn't reject him. One of Ryo's romantic admirers. Works in the local bookstore. Shy, but compared to Daisuke, he's a lion. Strong-hearted and driven.

Hideki: Professor. Eventually one of Ryota's admirers. Strict and cold on the outside, wounded and frightened on the inside. His Persona awakens during a time of extreme, life-threatening stress. Ryota's protective towards him and supports him during an emotional rollercoaster.

Kasumi: Ryo's roommate. Outspoken, motherly and fearless, she becomes a strong friend and confidant to Ryo. Hates it when people get under his skin, but also hates it when Ryo sags in the saddle. Has a bright, youthful fashion style, and loves to put her long hair in pigtails.

Daisuke: A hardcore reader/artist that Ryota meets in the library. A shy lone wolf with a loving, passionate heart. Has a powerful fear of expressing himself, and is defensive around others-but quickly loses his defensively attitude around Ryota. Quickly falls in love with Ryota, but infatuation eventually turns into true, unwavering love. One of Ryota's romantic admirers. Draws in his spare time.

Akane: Aspiring pop artist known as "A-chan". Has a crush on a guy working at the local mall. Local favorite that wants to get her music across the world. Ryota inspires her to push forward with her music.
