As many of you know, bombs eradicated the euphoria that should've followed the Boston Marathon several days ago. Innocent souls not only lost their limbs but their lives, having their own lives end prematurely or having their loved ones lost. An eight year old boy was amongst the victims of said nightmare.
Like many, I was incensed by the monstrosity that devastated lives, and wanted the offenders punished. Once both were identified, I was surely one of many Americans screaming 'those bastards deserve to rot in Hell'. The acts that destroyed so many lives were incomprehensible and unholy. But in the days that followed the initial attack, I learned more about the Suspect 1 and Suspect 2, as they were initially called. I learned that Tamerlan, the older brother, was up to his ears in terrorist connections, political drama and religious chaos. His family and wife all say he was domineering, manipulative and forceful. Some say he was friendly, but that's straight bullshit. Tamerlan not only had emotionally violent run-ins with the church, but with the FBI as well.
His younger brother? All I've been able to find is this: he was quiet, well-liked, had a lot of friends, helped his father with chores, and here's the KO: older brother Tamerlan was a massive influence on him.
'So what?!' you think. 'They did it! They're monsters! Who cares about the younger brother being nice and helpful?!' Younger brother Dzhokar is only nineteen. 19. He's a baby. And he was born into a world his extremist brother pulled him into. Brothers develop tight bonds, and in their native culture, having a brotherly bond thicker than blood is most likely crucial. Yes they may have been born and bred here, but their family views and culture are not similar to American views and culture. The younger brother was following someone he looked up to. Someone he adored. Probably the only strong influence in his life.
'So you're condoning everything that happened?! You're all right with him killing innocent Americans?!' No. I'm far from all right with the lives that were lost, and destroyed. If you think I'm okay with the deaths that took place, you haven't been paying much attention to me. You really don't know me. I'm immeasurably heartbroken for those lost in the bombings, and for those that lost their limbs. But I'm also not all right with brother Tamerlan infusing cyanide into his younger brother's veins. If Dzhokar was my age (26) or even older, I'd have no sympathy for him. None. But he's a baby. 19. Still impressionable and in the stage of idolizing his older brother. Considering how several family members fell out of touch with them, and the father being in their home country, Tamerlan was most likely a very powerful influence over younger brother Dzhokar.
I'm frequently reading updates on this situation, because Dzhokar is currently in critical condition-and in no condition to talk. And I have all fingers pointing at Tamerlan. Especially after seeing an article on how the FBI 'dropped the ball' on investigating him, two years ago. It was right on my Twitter page, from CNN. Instead of holding Dzhokar responsible for the full brunt of the nightmare, I'd peg the FBI reps responsible for letting Tamerlan slide, fire them and give them accountability in the attacks as well. If someone 'accidentally' released a Resident Evil virus, after it was contained, shouldn't they be held responsible?
'So what about the Dark Knight Shooter and Adam Lanza? Do you feel sorry for them too?' No. There's a vibrant difference between evil and confused. James Holmes (DK shooter) intentionally tried to slaughter as many movie-goers as he could, then tried to plead insanity. He showed absolutely NO remorse. Then there's Mr.Lanza, who sent off a billion red flags-none of which anyone paid attention to. Including the mother. I've seen nothing about Dzhokar playing violent shooter games for days on end, shouting 'down with America' or putting a computer together in five minutes. All of that glory went to Adam Lanza, the Sandy Hook killer in Newtown. And here's something else: both were American. Lanza lived in a quaint, happy little village where everyone ignored everyone's obvious issues.
'So what?! How does that make Dzhokar any special?' One: he might have been born here, and lived in Boston, but the culture he was raised into is drastically different from America's. Two: younger brothers are always impressionable by older brothers. Three: Dzhokar did not resist capture. He could've went out in a blinding blaze of glory, for Islam or his religion, but didn't. Everyone and their pet turtle knows radical terrorists will stop at NOTHING to propel their agenda. Hello? Can anyone spell 'SUICIDE BOMBER'? Why didn't Dzhokar blow himself and the cops up in the name of Islam, Russia, or Chechnya? Suicide bombings are sadly common in many countries!
'He should've known the difference from right and wrong!' Again, his notions of right and wrong were determined by Chechnya culture and (drumroll) his brother. Right was most likely was following his big brother. And note something else: everyone and their great-great-great aunt knows the mentality of a radical terrorist. It's 'COME ON YO, LET'S DO THIS SHIT FOR OUR TOTALLY AWESOME COUNTRY/RELIGION/ALL MIGHTY GOD'. Put that with the older brother/younger brother mentality, and there's your fatal recipe for complete and utter devastation. And let me note his age again: 19.
If Dzhokar ever talks again, and he's like 'down with America, down with the infidels,' I'll still be sad because he'll just be a carbon copy of his brother. Another brainwashed puppet made to destroy. At such a horrendous age.
I respect the 'Boston Pride' mentality. Bostonians endured a nightmare that surely seemed endless. But all of this 'America rocks, fuck yeah' nonsense is making my eyes bleed. America is nowhere near perfect. There was a shoot-out at a 4/20 celebration yesterday. Nobody wants tighter gun laws because they want to protect their precious right to kill. Celebrities are getting DUIS like they're buying candy from a vending machine. Newscasters conceal the truth. There are a billion and one things wrong with America. And all of the vicious attacks on Dzhokar just prove this nation is sorely intolerant against anyone that isn't American.
What about Tamerlan? Do I feel sorry for him? No. Why would I when he orchestrated the deaths of many-including the death of his baby brother? For all we know, he might've been the one to kill the MIT officer. He might have made the bombs all by his lonesome.
What do I think Dzhokar should get? Not the death penalty. Not a life sentence either. I think either 10-15 yrs over here, or have him sent back to his home country. His brother Tamerlan can fry for all I care. There's no way in Hell I'm letting him slide off on his culture, his childhood issues or his anger towards religion. I despise organized religion but I'll be damned before I take innocent lives, or doom my younger sibling to ultimate, eternal destruction. 'How come he can't slide off on his age?' Because he was almost 30 years old, and was up to his ears in bullshit drama. Political, religious, terrorist, you name it, he was there.
So once again, I am immeasurably sorry for all victims involved-the younger brother included.
Update: April 21st
Just found out that the brothers weren't born here. They were born in a Chechnyan region. Which strengthens my resolve towards Dzhokar's upbringing. He was not only raised around bombs and other fabulous displays of wonderful violence, but he had an equally violent brother in tow. Not exactly a great recipe for 'bright, prosperous future'. And as for the younger brother being spotted on campus: if that actually happened, I'm going to assume the younger brother's thoughts were somewhere along the line of 'yay, I did what older brother wanted me to do, now I can relax'. If he was a purebred, full-grown terrorist, there is no friggin' way in Hell he would've been spotted relaxing on campus. There would've been the 'LET'S GO ALL THE WAY, LET'S DO THIS, LET'S BLOW UP MORE SHIT' mentality.
I think the baby brother should have his citizenship revoked and 10-15 years in prison. Tamerlan, the older brother, orchestrated the entire event, from start to finish. Including the brainwashing of his younger sibling.
